چکیده

Assessing problem-solving remains a challenge for both teachers and researchers. With the aim of contributing to understanding this complex process, paper presents an exploratory study peer assessment in mathematical activities. The research was conducted with group future Secondary mathematics who first were asked individually solve open-ended problem then, assess classmate’s answer pairs. We present two cases involving pairs students, each whom assessed solution third classmate. analysis carried out interrelated phases: (a) individual solutions (b) process. results show that, cases, assessors strongly attached their own solutions, which directly influenced focused on aspects that involve general process results. main difference between evaluation processes followed by lies concept assessment. While pair focuses assessing resolution errors, other its discussion giving numerical grade.

Cognition and Affect in Mathematics Problem Solving with Prospective Teachers

Recent studies relating the affective domain with the teaching and learning of mathematics, and more specifically with mathematics problem solving, have focused on teacher education. The authors of these studies have been ever more insistently pointing to the need to design educational programs that take an integrated cognitive and affective approach to mathematics education. Given this context...

Error Detection Processes in Statistical Problem Solving

Problem solvers’ error detection processes were studied by instructing 16 subjects to think aloud when solving two statistical problems. The evaluative episodes occurring in subjects’ protocols were analyzed into Affirmative evaluation, Direct error-hypotheses, Error suspicion, and Standard check episodes, the last three of which are assumed to cover all main types of error detection processes....

Content Guidance in Formal Problem Solving Processes

In this paper, a formal framework to problem-solving processes is presented. The framework is not complete. Nevertheless, even its present sophistication allows one to see that it is promising. The framework demonstrably allows one to understand scientific change as content-guided. It will be argued that a formal framework is required in order to make definite and precise statements about the c...
